Replacement Inflation Valve

Instructions for replacing the inflation valve:

1) Firmly grip the rubber valve stem and remove the old inflation valve by using a pair of pliers.

Please note: Do not remove an inflation valve by holding the cushion and pulling the valve, doing so may tear the cushion.

2) Apply adhesive i.e. rubber cement to the end of the valve stem, and also inside the nipple, insert the valve stem into the nipple about 1/4".

Let dry 10 to 15 minutes. Your cushion will then be ready to use.

How do you get the valve 1/4" into the nipple? What can I use to open the nipple enough to slide the valve in with rubber cement on it?
